Spore Operations During COVID-19 Outbreak

Spore Operations During COVID-19 Outbreak

March 28, 2020

As of March 24, Washington State has been under a "stay at home" order. Like many businesses across the country under similar restrictions, we have been working to comply with these new rules in an effort to minimize the spread of the novel coronavirus. At this time, Spore's web store remains open for business, but our shipping may be slower than usual as we work with reduced staff and cannot guarantee delivery times of shipping services. We are removing overnight shipping from our store right now, but if you need faster delivery please call us at 206-624-9573. If we are in the office, we may be able to get expedited shipping for you.

Thank you for supporting our small, family-owned business.

We are incredibly grateful for what we have. We thank the amazing people who are holding things together, from child care workers, delivery folks, and first responders, to grocery employees, social workers and of course everyone who works in healthcare right now. We recognize that they are taking care of what is most important for ALL of us, while we at Spore try to maintain what keeps our family afloat.

Purchasing directly from Spore helps ensure we will weather this storm. As a thank you for considering adding our products to your home at this time, we are offering a 15% discount on all orders of $25 or more using code BIRDSONG

Our children are at home with us and we stay busy with books, art supplies, a vegetable garden and our new dog. We catch up on house repair projects, as you might be doing now. We are taking stock as a business and imagine possibilities that may lie ahead. For now, we are slowing down a bit, hearing birds more clearly now that the traffic has muted. We hope you hear their song, too.

Do I Need a Transformer for my Doorbell?
Do I Need a Transformer for my Doorbell?

We get a lot of questions about doorbell transformers! Here we will attempt to answer the most common of them.

What is a doorbell transformer?

A transformer converts line-voltage to low-voltage (16 volts). In the United States, line-voltage 120 for most household wiring (this is what is running to your lights and outlets). On Repair: A Story of a Broken Doorbell Button

In the office last week, we were discussing the importance of building repairable products. We are happy to say that we don't get a lot of calls requesting help with repairs, as our products are built to be sturdy in exterior applications. Nonetheless, some of our doorbell buttons have been in the field for decades now, and once in while we hear from someone whose doorbell is looking a bit shabby or whose LEDs have bit the dust. Whenever possible, we offer replacement parts to try to help customers repair their Spore products.
